The matcher runs regularly through the day, and automatic matches arrive one at a time, never more than one in a rolling 24 hours. So a quiet stretch is normal, and it does not mean something is wrong.
A pairing also has to fit in both directions: a language you could each hold a real conversation in, and each other's age preferences. A narrow pool slows things down. If your tribes are set to Only, the matcher considers only those members, and a tight age range leaves it less to work with; your Soul Search preferences are worth a look.
You are also never re-paired with someone you have already been matched with, and souls either of you blocked are never offered.
